We will get it soon, we are 13th in points for the year and are working hard to get that first win. Thanks to DJ, Skip, Billy and Chase for there hard work at the track and shop, the car looked great and ran fast. |

5th place at Pensacola after starting 14th in the feature we had a fast car and going to the front until the red flag at lap 13. The leaders had a chance to cool there tire and we lost our advantage we had with our tire management early in the race. We did move up to the back of 3rd and 4th place cars before the checker flag flew. Looking forward to Desoto this weekend.

2nd At Desoto Speedway
It's been the year of the rookies and young guns this season in the Tampa Bay Area Racing Association. After nine races of the 24-race schedule, Tampa's Troy DeCaire, 19, and in his third year on the circuit, is the only driver this season to have won three events. Rookie points leader Brian Gingras, 32, from Winter Haven, had his first TBARA win at Bronson Motor Speedway in May. Steven Darvolics, 20, in his sophomore season out of Venice, got his first feature win at the last visit to DeSoto Super Speedway. The third visit to DeSoto's high banks on Saturday night saw rookie D.J. Hoelzle, 31, from Dunedin, start outside the front row after winning Heat Two. Hoelzle is a past Open Wheel Modified champion at the track. He got the jump on polesitter Tommy Nichols of Tampa and was the class of the field in the early going. Meanwhile, current points leader DeCaire started outside row six in 12th and made a bold move, high and outside, to move forward five spots at the drop of the green. He then patiently picked off cars to chase down Hoelzle. Taking the lead near halfway, DeCaire looked unstoppable. Lapped traffic would be the downfall of the fast-moving youngster as his front bumper hooked the rear bar of Michael Smith's car. Both drivers went spinning off Turn Two and had to go to the rear of the field. DeCaire managed to make the best of the situation, moving back up to a seventh-place finish. Danny "The Hammer" Martin, 20, of Sarasota, used the caution to roll up behind Hoelzle, who had inherited the lead. Martin, a regular on the O'Reilly United Sprint Car Series, pulled alongside Hoelzle out of Turn Four as the two drivers went under the white flag after the final restart. Martin beat Hoelzle into Turn One, taking the lead, and never looking back. He would win the event but did major damage to the car when the throttle stuck wide open under the checkered flag and he hammered the wall. "That was a great race from where I was sitting," said a smiling Martin in Victory Circle without his car. "The damage is bad, but it's still a great win." Rounding out the top five behind Martin, Hoelzle and Nichols were Dude Teate in fourth and Stan Butler in fifth. Hoelzle tried everything to win his first TBARA event. "I knew I had a problem early, as the car tightened up each lap," he said. "I used the cockpit adjusters to put all the weight into it I could and brought the wing as far forward as possible, but we found a tiny hole in the left rear and only 2.7 pounds of pressure was left at the end.""We have had seven different winners in nine races now," TBARA president Don Rehm said after Saturday night's DeSoto Speedway event. "The shows are getting better and returning to several tracks more this year than in years past seems to be working with the fans." The next outing for the TBARA will be at New Smyrna Speedway on June 2. It will return to the Tampa area on June 23 for another visit to DeSoto Super Speedway. Visit TBARA.com for more Florida dates and 2007 information.

DJ had a good and bad luck start to the season, he ran well at the Citrus race put just missed the feature by one spot. We learned alot about how the races are run and the effort needed to run the TBARA Series. Saturday we moved to New Smyrna Speedway were we had a good practice session and got the car up to speed. The first heat race we started last and moved up to 7th one spot out of the transfer spot. So we had to run the B Main, DJ started on the Pole and set fast time 15.73 and won the B Main. He had to start the Feature last due to the rookie rules and we got involved in a first lap wreck and the car was wreck badly. We will have to miss the next race but we will be back as soon as possible. We would like to thank everyone that helped this weekend on and off the track.

Testing the new car at Desoto
Well DJ did it again, he had the new car in the mid 12 second lap time the first time out in the car. That we have been told is 1 tenth off the track record. DJ said the car has more in it and the crew was excited about the test. We also have the same crew back since the 2001 Championship plus 2 new additions. The plan is to test 2 more times before the start of the year. The First of these test will to get the car more comfortable and fine tune the handling of the car. Test the changes in the wing locations and springs. Then test different shock setups in the last test at Desoto.

Lakeland Testing & Race
DJ just tested at Lakeland for the June 5, 2004 race and was fast with the new engine from Dave. USAR Procup changed the right side tire to a harder compound and we use the test to make changes to our chassis setup. We came up with a setup for the long runs of the race and are looking forward to a great race. We were the fastest car in practice on race day and qualified 7th 18 off the pole in DJ's 3rd start in a ProCup car. DJ was 8th with 30 laps to go when we had a tube come loose and started to cut the left front tire, by the time we replaced the tire and removed the tube we were 3 laps down. We finished 15th with only slight right front fender damage to the car. Luke Hill's pit crew pitted the car for us and we all thank them for there help. See you at the races on September 4 at Lakeland

New Symrna Race
DJ was one of the fastest car in practice for the New Symrna race, when in the 3rd practice he put his ear plug in and within 15 seconds he felt very sick and had to get out of the car. The ear plug had been setting on the dash and had become very hot, the temp of the plugs burned his inter ear canal giving him vertigo. The paramedics and the doctor said it would go away in a few days. DJ said he would try to qualify and then run one lap for the points, he qualified 2 tenths of second off the pole in 13th place, his best qualifying attempt in a Hooters Car. Then about 30 minutes before the race the feel a lot better and was going to attempt to run the whole race. Lap 88 DJ was 14th with the lead pack when the vertigo came back, he pulled in to the pits and called it a night with the car having no damage for the second race in a row. The team and DJ will be more careful about DJ's Gear, like keep the driver cool as possible. We will run 4-24-04 in Concord, NC at the BF Goodrich Tires 250 Hooters ProCup Race. The motor is going up to Dave's for a rebuild and we plan on testing at Concord before the race. See you at the races.
